Nkwa Health — Patient App Privacy Notice
Last updated: 1 August 2026 · Version: 1.0
Who is responsible for your information
The Nkwa Health app is provided and operated by Nkwa Health, operated by Abacie Gamma Limited (“we”). Nkwa Health is the operator and data controller for the app and the platform.
You use the app in connection with your health provider (“your clinic”) — currently our launch partner Erama Medical Center, and other clinics as the platform grows. Your clinic is responsible for your medical care and the clinical record it keeps.
Data protection contact: Jason Frempong — hello@nkwahealth.com.
What information the app collects
Account & access
- An anonymous app account created on your device — no email or password. You link it to your clinic record using a one-time invite code your clinic gives you.
- A PIN you set to unlock the app — stored securely on your device only, never sent to us.
What you enter
- Check-ins and measurements you choose to log (e.g. weight, steps, blood pressure, mood) and any notes.
- Meal photos you choose to add.
- Consent choices — which types of information you agree to share with your clinic.
- Profile details you submit (contact details, next-of-kin, self-reported allergies/medicines) — sent to your clinic as pending review for a clinician to confirm.
From your clinic
- Your care plan, goals and reminders, and information your clinician chooses to share with you.
Technical
- A notification token (only if you turn on reminders), your app version, and minimal diagnostics. We do not collect your location, contacts, or advertising identifiers.
How your information is used
- To show your care plan and record what you log for your care team.
- To send reminders/notifications — only if you turn them on; notifications never contain health details.
- To keep the service secure and working.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
Legal basis (Act 843)
We process your information based on your consent and to support the provision of your health care. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app.
Who your information is shared with
- Your clinic — the point of the app.
- Service providers who host/run the app on our behalf, under contract, only to provide the service:
- Cloud hosting: Supabase (data stored in the EU — AWS
eu-west-1, Ireland). - Push notifications: the Expo push service (only if you enable reminders).
- Cloud hosting: Supabase (data stored in the EU — AWS
- No one else — not sold, not shared for marketing.
International transfer
You are in Ghana; your data is stored and processed in the EU (Ireland) by our hosting provider, and the operator is UK-based. This cross-border arrangement relies on the EU’s recognised data-protection standards, your consent, and contractual safeguards with our providers, consistent with Act 843. It is disclosed here and in the app’s terms so you can make an informed choice.
Where and how long it is kept
- Secure, access-controlled infrastructure in the EU (
eu-west-1, Ireland). - Meal photos are automatically removed when your programme ends or after 6 months, whichever is sooner; the copy on your phone is yours to keep or delete.
- Other information is kept as long as needed for your care and legal requirements, then deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under Act 843 you can access, correct, delete your information, or withdraw consent. Core record details held by your clinic (e.g. name, date of birth) are managed by your clinic — request a correction through the app or your clinic.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your app account and the data we hold for the app at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Delete my account (coming soon), or
- By contacting: hello@nkwahealth.com.
Some information may be retained by your clinic as part of your medical record where the law requires.
Security
Encryption in transit and at rest, a device PIN (and optional biometrics), and an anonymous account model that avoids storing unnecessary personal identifiers.
Children
The app is intended for adult patients. It is not designed for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. (Proxy access for dependents, with appropriate parental consent, may be added later and this notice will be updated.)
Changes to this notice
If we make significant changes we’ll update the version and notify you in the app.
Nkwa Health is a Frempong Labs product. Your clinic is responsible for your care and your medical record.

What this site collects
This is a marketing website, not the Nkwa Health product. It does not hold any patient data.
- Demo-request form: the name, role, organisation, email, phone and message you type. We use it only to respond to your enquiry and to arrange a walkthrough.
- Email: if you email hello@nkwahealth.com, we hold that correspondence in order to reply.
- Analytics: aggregate, privacy-respecting page statistics. No cookies are set for analytics and we do not build a profile of you or track you across other sites.
Lawful basis
We process your enquiry on the basis of legitimate interests — responding to a business request you initiated — and, where you ask to join the pilot waitlist, on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw at any time by emailing us.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of processors to run this site: a form-delivery service to pass your message to our inbox, an email provider to receive it, and our hosting and DNS provider, which serves the pages and keeps aggregate analytics. Each acts on our instructions. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Our anti-spam protection and our hosting provider may set a strictly necessary cookie to keep the site secure and working. Fonts are served from this site’s own domain — no font, analytics or other request is made to Google, so no third party receives your IP address for those.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards for our business records. Ask us to delete yours and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our processing, or ask us to restrict it. Email hello@nkwahealth.com. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for such transfers.
A note on the platform itself
Nkwa Health is decision-support and wellness software. It is not a medical device and it does not diagnose. How the Nkwa Health patient app handles information is set out in the app privacy notice above; your clinic remains responsible for your medical care and its clinical record. Nothing on this marketing site collects patient information.
